Poet of Today in Kyoto, Japan
Koichi Yakushigawa
What are you looking for?
Do you ask me?
Yes,
I am looking for something,
But I myself don’t know what it is.
Something is lacking,
What is lacking?
What I am looking for
Is what is lacking.
Why is this sense of lacking
in this affluent world?
You have long watched this world
For hundreds years,
Is the human world become rich?
Is their face bright?
Are the children playing merrily?
Please, tell me,
Is the human world becoming better?
Question comes out from question,
We can not expect any answer coming back,
Can we call it sterility?
And now, in the following page: a picture of the Buddha and the original poem, in Japanese.
Illustration and Both versions: Japanese and English, are also from the author.
